From its myriad of colourful pastimes which include batik printing and songket weaving to the rapturous celebration of its many generations of cultural and traditional heritage, Terengganu is indeed a very blessed state. Kuala Terengganu, the state capital, consists of most of the state's population which stands at approximately 1 million people, where about 90% of them Malay.
Here are some of the attractions that can be found in and around Kuala Terengganu and other parts of Terengganu as well:

This is the largest museum in Malaysia. The complex consists of the Main Museum, Maritime Museum, Fisheries Museum, 4 traditional houses and botanic and herb gardens. The Main Museum by itself is uniquely built on 16 stilts, in accordance with the traditional architecture of Terengganu. There are 10 galleries showcasing textiles, crafts, historical, royalty, nature, art, petroleum, Islam, and new generation as well as contemporary arts.

Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque
The Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque, located 4.5km from Kuala Terengganu is a unique mosque. Combining modern and traditional architectural designs, the mosque creates an illusion of itself as it was floating on water. This mosque is also known as the "Floating Mosque".

Bukit Puteri
Bukit Puteri used to be a fortress between 1831 to 1876 to defend the state from enemy attacks. Some of the historicals remains which can be seen are the cannons, a flagpole, a large bell and a fort. Bukit Puteri is also located at the highest point of Kuala Terengganu. Visitors standing at the top of Bukit Puteri can witness the magnificent view of the surrounding areas.

Rantau Abang
Rantau Abang, 60km south of Kuala Terengganu, is famous as one of only six places in the world visited by the leatherback turtles. These turtles would visit the shores of Rantau Abang from the months of May to September. Visitors would wait quietly from midnight to dawn to watch these giant leatherback turtles laying egg. The turtles measure up to 2.5 metres in length and could weigh up to 375kg. Watching them slowly lumbering on the white sandy beaches to lay egg would be memorable.

The Islands: Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Redang, Pulau Kapas, Pulau Lang Tengah, Gem Island, etc.

Located within 50 kilometres off the cost of Kuala Terengganu is a few of the most beautiful and exotic islands in Malaysia. Pulau Perhentian, only 21km off the coast consists of 2 islands: Pulau Perhentian Besar (big) and Pulau Perhentian Kecil (small).
